Michiel offered concrete advise for the implementation of a growth strategy for Rain Water Concepts
Results
Michiel took a few days to analyze the company. Mister Ayyappa showed him 4 different existing business plans, but none of those gave enough insight for practical implementation. Also, Michiel noticed that among Mr. Ayyapa and his people already a lot of ideas for growth existed. That's why Michiel started to focus more on concrete advice for actual implementation, instead of proposing another elaborate growth strategy. He helped them to identify which ideas for growth were most promising and subsequently he helped in developing a plan for a hands-on implementation of the growth strategy. As a positive extra result, Hilke also offered her support to RWC. With her background in Industrial Design, she helped them preparing and improving presentations, making a set-up for the annual report, helped in making movies etc. Main recommendation is that first priority to do is hiring a CEO because of the high workload for Mr. Ayyappa. A compatible CEO would help him in running the daily business operations and then he can focus on spreading the word and mission of RWC.

Reflection: to judge the situation, what RWC needed was much different than I expected, partly due to cultural differences, language barriers and some documents it took me some time to find out.
Flexibility: surprise after surprise required me to refocus and go again.
Idealism: I have found an enormous drive and passion by seeing people working 24/7 and willing to make only little profit and contribute to a better world.

Follow up
This is a start of a two-year partnership between SharePeople and Rain Water Concepts. Both organisations will keep in touch (a.o. via the SharePeople liaison, at least every 3 months), and with the expert as well. After this Programme, an official update on the status of the organisation takes place every 12 months. With this information, a new Programme is one of the possibilities to boost the organisation if needed. Participation in a yearly SharePeople Experience Week is also an option.
