Nicole Klaver provided insights in new strategic business directions and plans

About the organisation

The Assiociation of Differently-abled Persons in Iloilo Multi-Purpose Cooperative (ADPIMPC) is an cooperative with members who are differently-abled. They have several businesses in the field of for instance catering, the production of furniture for offices and schools and microfinance. These businesses provide employment opportunities for the members and has a positive outcome for them because it can realise self-sustainability. The Cooperative provides trainings to its members to increase their capacity (socially and economically) to compete with other sevice providers in the market.

Business case

ADPIMPC asked for support from Nicole Klaver to facilitate with new strategic business directions and plans. Nicole Klaver was capable of working at this business case and as she explains it herself: "It was the perfect match, also in the role of mediator"

The expert started with interviews, looking for trust and comfort. This was followed by a short presentation of her first impression, to touch base with the needs of the Coop. The next step was a ECRR workshop (Eliminate, Create, Raise and Reduce), with staff, board and members, the input was gained for the plan. This was followed by an action list for the coming 3 months. The outcome of the actions will be the base and input for the Strategic Business Plan of which the concept and lay out was made by the Expert, Nicole Klaver.

Conclusions
For ADPIMPC it is important to:
- bring into focus priorities

- eliminate non-viable business units or give it a 2^nd chance and write a new bussinessplan

- have a more general and operational management and get more feedback

Nicole Klaver also concluded that their is:
- a lack of trust between BOD & Assembly and Coop staff
- a lack of vision of BOD and no general finance and business knowledge

Advise

•    Change in management team. GM handed over his double role as COO to the Purchase Officer

•    Advised the management team to search for more qualified members to be elected for the BOD

•    Regina (SharePeople liaison) will explain to the GA how a business works to gain confidence and trust from the Assembly

Concrete deliverables of this business case are a lay out and concept for the new Business Plan together with an action list of which the results will lead to the input for the Plan.

Impact on the partners
Nicole got inspired:
- by the fact that she achieved so much in 2 weeks by sticking to the role as facilitator and consultant only.

- by the power of the differently abled! "I got great respect for them, it changes your world"

- when she saw the professional and personal development of the Filipino entrepreneur

- by the lessons she learned on how to focus, make choices and unite as a team.

- by trying to make ADPIMPC a stronger business

Follow up
The Coop has until mid March to finish the Business plan. A copy will be sent to the Expert, the SharePeople liaison and the SharePeople programmemanager.

The action list is there to be followed, including responsible persons and deadlines.

For the future a marketing or financial expert might be needed. Regina Gaza, the SharePeople liaison, will follow up on this. Whenever another Expert will be needed to share his or her knowledge, SharePeople will formulate a new business case which is vacant.
