The reorganization of a printing house in India
About the organisation
St. Joseph's Press is a full service printing house in India. They deliver services regarding printing of books and other publications which meet international standards. They especially focus on publications with social, religious, cultural and environmental importance.
Business case
St. Joseph's Press requested an assessment of the Business Systems and an overall scan to assess how their business could be improved. We matched the company with the expert Rachel Bonkink
. Because of her broad experience in change management and her ability to assess needs and to initiate change within the company, Rachel was a good match. The expert's personal interests are in people management and communication, aspects that turned out to be extremely useful in this case as these were the main aspects lacking in the company.
Analysis
Key to the success of the assignment were the many individual talks with the staff and the brainstorm sessions with all levels of management. On very regular intervals conclusions and ideas of the SWOT analysis were shared and possible improvements were evaluated. The major conclusions were that the management structure wasn't built for growth and the lack of operational knowledge within the management caused delays and an overall vacuum.
Outcome
Rachel advised a reorganization, adding the functions of an Operational, HR and Quality Assurance manager, this will increase overall efficiency and will facilitate easier and quicker decision making processes.

The management of St. Joseph's Press got the opportunity to get closer to his employees and to use the expert's report to get the attention of the Board Members to initiate change at this level as well.
Follow up
Rachel will stay in touch with St Joseph Press and support from a distance via mail and skype to assure they keep on track and to initiate the necessary changes.
St. Joseph's Press and SharePeople maintain a two-year partnership. Both organisations will keep in touch (a.o. via the SharePeople liaison, at least every 6 months) After this Programme, an official update on the status of the organisation takes place every 12 months. With this information, a new Programme is one of the possibilities to boost the organisation if needed.
