Roadmap for ICT company in Kenya
About the organisation
Kulwant Kenya provides web development, online marketing and business online strategy plans. They also have private clients and do hosting.
Business case
Kulwant has been struggling with defining a strategy to improve the sustainability of the organisation. They were in need of an external analysis of the organisation (business scan resulting in a SWOT) followed by recommendations about a strategy suitable to their vision, marketing and new product trends in IT.
SharePeople matched Klaas van Donkersgoed ,from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, with the business case Kulwant was struggling with. The fact that Klaas is leading a department of KLM with 19 ICT specialists, makes that he is familiar with running and planning the operation of a small business. The combination of his management skills and his technical IT knowledge were very applicable to this case.
Analysis
Klaas started by gathering information from the social entrepreneur and other team members of Kulwant. Also he did research on past, existing and future clients. The information gathered was analyzed with the help of a SWOT, which enabled him to define the focus areas which have to be adressed.
Outcome
Klaas recommends Kulwant to work on following key areas:
Klaas adviced concrete action points categorized into priority levels.
Professional and personal development
Ravinder Paul Singh: "This programme contributed to my professional development because of the analyzing of issues and finding a solution. My personal development includes a better management of my time and lifestyle change."
Follow up
The expert and the social enterpreneur will meet again mid next year in Nairobi to evaluate the progress. Paul Singh is responsible for the implementation of the roadmap, which will contribute to the growth of his business. This will lead to more employment, already one job has been created!
Kulwant and SharePeople maintain a two-year partnership. Both organisations will keep in touch (a.o. via the SharePeople liaison, at least every 6 months) After this Programme, an official update on the status of the organisation takes place every 12 months. With this information, a new Programme is one of the possibilities to boost the organisation if needed.
