About Kamahari

Kamahari is a co-operation aimed at training farmers in entrepreneur skills and at developing new products with good marketing and sales opportunities. Because the margins are better and because of the threat of the closing of the current sugar factory, Kamahari has set up a muscovado processing entity. Muscovado is another type of cane sugar. On the basis of the positive outcomes of an external market research, Kar Leon Cheng, Christian Baumgartner and Liesbeth Brackel, together with the Philippine Deborah Sabarre and her staff, have developed an investment model aimed at setting up an independent Muscovado company. Kamahari is now searching for investors and the Dutch give recommendations from the Netherlands concerning investors and the business plan.

Follow up

With all the advices of the SharePeople team, a new organisation was set up: WestBat, an organisation to set up this social muscovado entreprise in West Batangas. With all input of the team, IDEAL, or actually, WestBat, finalized their business and investment plan and won the BID Challenge prize in 2008. However, in 2009, WestBat has not been implemented due to management discussions between WestBat and IDEALS.
